The Process

You have decided to marry…
You break the news of your engagement to family and friends when the time is right…

But where to from here?
A suitable wedding date?
A venue?
A big or small celebration?

…and who will officiate your marriage and
what happens then?

See the steps below

1. First Contact

We chat about what is required to get married in Australia. We cover matters such as paperwork and supporting document legalities.

Venues, wedding dates and my availability are also discussed. We then settle on a day to meet up.

2. First Meet Up

We get to know each other more and ascertain whether we are a fit. This meeting must take place anywhere between one to 18 months before your wedding day. If you are happy to proceed we complete the compulsory Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM). This stays lodged with me. Often couples bring along their documents ready to sign up.

3. Next Steps

A deposit is required before I start work on your ceremony. There is no need to meet up again for a while but we stay in contact as we work through your service.

4. Closer To Your Wedding

More form filling as close to your wedding as possible. It can also be a convenient time for a rehearsal if you wish.

5. Wedding Day

I usually arrive around an hour before. I spend time with the groom and groomsmen, introduce myself to any speakers/ presenters, and ensure that things are going to plan. I post off the Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) and Certificate of Marriage to the Births, Deaths & Marriages (BDM) of the state or territory in which wedding took place.
